Yesterday I posted a poem for St. Brigid's day. It is the next post down from this one and it was written as a plea to St. Brigid to help protect our rapidly depleting boreal and tiaga forests that make up the northern ring of trees around the earth. I finished posting on blogger and skipped over to facebook to post a blog connect from facebook. I went to my news feed first and found this picture staring at me through the trees.
When I am out driving and I stop at a light, If the car in front has a bumper sticker that says God loves Me, I understand it as a message from God and it always makes me feel warm and peaceful inside. The timing of finding this on my facebook news feed this morning, placed exactly where the screen was poised to show the contents totally startled me.
My friend Jim is an environmental advocate and always has two or three pictures or posts on my facebook newsfeed everyday. The coincidence that THIS particular pic was posted by him on my feed within the few minutes I came back from my blog, is unsettling to say the least. I do not know the origin of this picture, so I do not know if it was originally intended to be a likeness of St. Brigid..... that would really freak me out!! It was weird enough just seeing it there on my feed.
So, I am taking this to mean, St. Brigid also cares about the ring of northern forests as she was born into part of it in Kildare, Ireland, around 450 C.E., to a Druid family. I am also am taking this to mean she will help to protect the ring of forests and that was my prayer.
This little incident is not in the same league as bleeding statues of the blessed virgin, but it's about "as close as I want to come" to any divine spirits lurking about. Thank you St. Brigid for hearing my plea, my prayer.

I do so hope that this plea is answered.
ReplyDeleteTabor,
DeleteMe too. Our forests so need protection. You know this to be true. Everyday there are woodland friends visiting you. Thanks for coming by today, Tabor. (hugs)
Amen! Thank you for sharing this with us, Linda...it is a message of hope in troubling times for our beloved, vital forests.
ReplyDeleteCarolina,
DeleteI read about this in a book published last year, Old Growth Forests in Ontario by Michael Hendry. Paper is becoming a precious commodity. Thank you stopping by to leave some hope here. =D
Well, that is a really cool graphic. Hopefully, econews will get better and not worse.
ReplyDeleteAnvilcloud,
