This morning, I pulled myself out of bed before the dawn and got myself ready. Black pants, green turtle neck for warmth, white turtle neck over green turtle neck, the Green Party official t-shirt, my green woolly jacket, my Green Party button and my Green Party bag and off I went. When I got to the local train station, a few party members were lurking about. They pointed me to track two and I went up the stairs and waited.
The train arrived, Elizabeth May stepped off the train and I went running over and said,
"Can I please get an autograph?" She replied, "Of course you can!!!" We hugged, she autographed my book. Our Candidate, Alonzo Bartley got a photo. The press were there and they got photos. Elizabeth and I posed for a few shots. We were on CP 24, this morning. Perhaps we will be in the local news. She was giving out packs of sunflower seeds which I will plant in my garden.
She was so nice, so approachable, so happy to be doing her whistle-stop tour and so appreciative of our turn out. She was only there a few minutes and after all the passengers were boarded on the train, it departed for points east. It was so exciting!!!! I was reminded of the last federal election when Elizabeth May stopped at Union Station and we had a rally at the Hockey Hall of Fame. That was the first time I met her.
My book that Elizabeth May wrote, now has some new words inside. They say,
"To Linda, Thanks!" Elizabeth May
so. And those guys aren't making it easy for Ms. May to participate in this election.
so.

What a fabulous picture, Linda! You look so happy, and Elizabeth looks very pleasant and approachable, indeed. Please keep us posted on the news coverage!

I will try to keep you posted, but not this weekend. Tomorrow I am off to Whitby for Tim the grandson on Saturday, and I am going from there to Guelph for two concerts with Natasha and her violin, on Monday. I am the gypsy Grandma this weekend. =D
ReplyDeleteHow exciting and how happy you look! Always fun to do something different. Have a ball Ms. Gypsy Grandma...
ReplyDeleteit's all good linda. i wish that the greens could achieve their agenda in some way other than the bogus political arena but that's the way the game is played at this point in history. she's a smart and good person. lucky you. steven
ReplyDeleteLinda! You look so joyful - wonderful to see. Not easy being green, but so very essential. Thank you for all your efforts on behalf of us all. Barry would be so proud.
ReplyDeleteYes, Vicki...... This is turning into a very happy weekend. I must be getting to a point this year where I have done everything I need to, so all my life events and challenges are beginning to fall into place. Things are not so frustrating. Finally!!! I'm looking forward to being a Gypsy Grandma. =D
ReplyDeleteSteven, Lately, the political arena is becoming VERY bogus. Barely democratic. The only reason the other parties have any green policies at all is because the Greens are scaring them into it. But you are correct about having to be political to make a statement. Why should you have to? Thank you for visiting today!! =D
ReplyDeleteBonnie, Barry got us both into this. I am continuing his legacy. I have to say, I'm not the writer he is. Our local candidate was looking for help with writing today. I do my best but Barry was way more eloquent. It's great you stopped to visit Bonnie. =D
ReplyDeleteAh! You got your autograph. I really enjoyed the video of Ms. May and the chainsaw, and my fingers are crossed that she is successful. She seems absolutely wonderful.
ReplyDeleteYou wore TWO turtlenecks?
I saw her picture in the paper this morning and it reminded me that someone had written about May and democracy. Now, I remember who.
ReplyDeleteLinda you are so cute and your trip to the train station looked so fun. Go Green!!
ReplyDeleteKerry, It's cold up here still in the mornings. And the train station platform is raised high enough, you can almost see the lake. The wind chill is brutal. I didn't want to wear a coat, so I layered the shirts. I wanted that bright green woolly jacket to be the outer layer. Green party people usually wear green clothes. It identifies them. When you compare Elizabeth May to the other party leaders, she is like a breath of fresh air. Wait..... she is a breath of fresh air, that's why I'm voting Green. Thanks for visiting today. =D
ReplyDeleteAnvilcloud, I'm guilty as charged. Barry got me into it, and I will continue with this party because I believe in their "Vision Green" . It's an excellent policy paper and contains all the hopes I have for Canada. Besides, I really do like Elizabeth May. =D Thanks for stopping in here.
ReplyDeleteGigi, I was so excited about taking part in the whistle-stop tour. I DID enjoy it!!! Thank you for coming by and leaving your kind compliments. =D
ReplyDeletethey never make it easy on change...how cool that she was so approachable...we need more of that...
ReplyDeleteFrom such small steps the world is changed! Congratulations on your determination and creativity!
ReplyDeleteWas wondering if you got your autograph but you did one better you got a photo! So happy for you as I know how much she means to you. I see she stil is not allowed to debate but she keeps on doesn't she.......I think she should be in on the debates.......:-)Hugs
ReplyDeleteBrian, We do need more of that!!!!!!!! Change is always difficult. Thank you for visiting. =D
ReplyDeleteTabor, I am absolutely hoping, the small steps of one will influence others.
ReplyDeleteI think the Scottish background speaks to my determination. Thank you for visiting today and leaving your kind, supportive comments. They are much appreciated!! =D
Bernie, With over 600,000 votes in the last federal election, Ms. May definitely SHOULD have been in those debates. She is very determined to gain a seat in Parliament with her "Vision Green". More women in the House can only make it better, right?. =D Thanks for coming by and leaving support for the cause. It is appreciated!! =D
